Grab ‘Em Now – **Inaugural Edition** [August 12, 2011 edition]

[This is an irregular feature which proves that I spend way too much time browsing book listings on Amazon. The intent of these Grab ‘Em Now posts is to alert you to graphic novels which have started to rise significantly in price online due to their relative scarcity. If any book I mention is buried somewhere on your future buy list, I recommend that if you can still find it at cover at your local LCS then you bump it to the top of your list and grab it now at cover price while you still can.]

For the inaugural edition of  this feature, I was just expecting to offer up some examples of graphic novels I have noticed that have started to seriously rise above their original cover prices on Amazon, however the gods of serendipitous timing (whomever they might be) granted me something a bit more ‘meaty’ for this first time out.

Bleeding Cool just reported that Marvel has released a list of hardcover and trade paperback books which they will not be keeping in print in the future. This was very nice of them to do since it will allow for those of us on the ball to make a decision about whether we need to run out and buy these books now or whether we are willing to just wait a while and see if they rerelease some of them with spiffy new covers and ad copy telling us why we need to buy the books this time. Once you have browsed the list you will see that it is populated with a mixture of collections, some of which are recommended reading and others that are no big deal if you miss them. For your convenience I have reprinted the list below, and you will likely find that there is indeed something for evryone on the list:
